Ive had my JD-20 for just shy of 2 years now. The first thing we noticed was the door shelfs would pop out every once in a while. Then we saw they were broken (2 now). After 1 year a large crack developed in the door itself. I have since used caulking to seal it. The guide for the meat drawer is now broken as are all 3 drawers. This is a good fridge to buy if your looking to stage a house but if your looking for a fridge for a family stay far away.

I've had this great looking fridge for a month now. It works wonderfully, just noisy. It makes crackling/popping noises when cooling and the fan is loud when it begins to cool. Customer Service said this is normal for this model. Also, freezer rack is weak, bends easily if weighty objects are on it(ex.20lb bag of ice). Vents can also be blocked easily so be careful. It works GREAT!

Great second refrigerator - very large

We bought this about a month ago to replace a second refrigerator on a lower level that had gotten to small. This refrigerator was highly rated by a nationally recognized consumer review organization, and represents a good value compromise with regards to price and energy efficiency. It is very big inside, to include the freezer (made bigger by the lack of an ice maker). I would give it four stars, but cannot be certain how it will hold up over time.

This refrigerator would be totally acceptable if it were not for the wild and random temp fluctuations. With both controls set to normal, the temp was far below the acceptable range. Setting bot controls midway to max gave somewhat workable results. At one point, setting the temp control to full max had no affect. Turning it full off and then back seemed to restore operation. These fluctuations may occur multiple times in one day or it may operate several days without an occurrence. These observations were made using two new frig/freezer thermometers with rated accuracy.I would recommend potential buyers to select a different model or brand.

We bought this fridge recently after having a side by side that was on its last leg. My husband insisted on this model because of the great reviews. I agree with him as well. My only complaint is that it is somewhat noisy. The other HUGE issue is that since it didn't come with an ice maker, we had Home Depot add one. This was a horrible decision. Because it's not a factory unit, the ice making is SUPER slow. I'm extremely disappointed and Home Depot won't do anything about it. The other issue I had was the shelf in the freezer. I had a turkey and it bowed the wire shelf so much and was so flimsy and cheaply made,I had to ask a family member to store it for me.

Wildly varying freezer...

First off, the positive: the fridge works great. It varies between 34-37 degrees, which is about what I would expect from a EnergySaver-certified fridge.The shelves are OK, although they bow a bit under heavy weight. The positions choices are too far between, so it makes it hard get the right fridge heights, you end up with either too far between shelves (which means less space for the shelf above or below) or not enough space. The door spots are fine. I could do without the drawer in the middle.The freezer, however, is just awful. The temperature ranges between -5 and 30 degrees over a 2-3 hour period. I put a data-logging thermometer in there and watched as over a week-long stretch the temperature would climb from -5 to 30 over the span of a couple hours, and then drop precipitously back down to -5 over a 15-30 minute span. This is pretty lame...I had BestBuy send out another unit, since I figured that one was defective. They did, and the new one behaved the same way.I called Frigidaire customer service, and they scheduled a local service company to come out. The day of the service, I called for a narrower window, and was told they knew nothing about it. They scheduled me for a week out. Then canceled that and re-scheduled for another week out. When the service guy came, he said "I'm gonna say that behaves correctly as expected" and left... Not cool (and literally not cold)...So as a fridge, maybe a 4; as a freezer a 1 (or 0); combined I'm giving it a 2.Seems light on energy, though...

I bought this refrigerator based on it being made in America and the pricing at the time. Once the first refrigerator was delivered, there were dents in it and so a replacement refrigerator was ordered. When the 2nd one arrived, the internal stripping was no attached at bottom of door, I took it as is and was rewarded with $100. The refrigerator is quite noisy and the door shelves are not the best, as items have fallen through the gap between the shelf and the retaining part of the shelf. Everything else seems to be working fine. Except, don't advertise made in America and the tag inside the refrigerator says made in Mexico. I was disappointed with that.

Not Garage Ready

I was told that this make/model was garage ready when I bought it at Home Depot. The manual says, "Your refrigerator is designed to prevent food stored in the freezer from melting when installed in areas below 55° F such as a garage; however, this low temperature environment can cause less than optimal temperature control in the refrigerator section." Which further indicates that it is garage ready. HOWEVER, when the temperature in the kitchen drops below 50 degrees F. The temperature in the freezer will fluctuate between 0 and 30, which will cause the ice cream to melt, pizza and bread products to go limp, etc. The refrigerator is 2 less than two months old and the repair people came to replace the temperature control unit which did not help. Further, my cold section of the refrigerator hovers at 40 degrees.

Sold as a garage compatible but NOT.

Sold as a garage compatible refrigerator/freezer by the retailer and the manufacturer product information provided to retailer. Not true. The freezer does not work properly even in the summer months. It does not keep ice cream, etc. The retailer replaced my first refrigerator with an identical refrigerator hoping that the replacement worked properly but did not. I am going to call the retailer again in hopes that they can help or maybe the manufacturer can help solve our problem. Also when the refrigerator door closes the freezer door opens and closes.

For a basic fridge, this is perfect. No light in the freezer is a disappointment though.
